Cincinnati sheet metal workers open doors Nov. 17 for Apprenticeship Week

Greater Cincinnati Apprenticeship Council offers weeklong look at apprenticeship

CINCINNATI, OHIO — Sheet Metal Workers Local No. 24, 1579 Summit Road, will host a presentation and information session from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 17, in celebration of National Apprenticeship Week (Nov. 14-20).

During the week, participants will have the opportunity to explore various building trades in the Cincinnati area. The event is presented by the Greater Cincinnati Apprenticeship Council and the affiliated apprenticeship programs in partnership with the United States Department of Labor and the Ohio State Apprenticeship Council.

Building trades participating in the week include Sheet Metal Workers Local No. 24 Training Center, IBEW/NECA Electrical Training Center, Reinforced Concrete Iron Workers, Plumbers and Pipefitters Training Center and Bricklayers Training Center.

National Apprenticeship Week was created last year to tell the story of apprenticeships and invite business and industry, education, career seekers, community-based organizations, students and workers to learn about the real world advantages of this form of higher education.

Those participating in sheet metal apprenticeships across the country graduate debt-free with a career and living wage oftentimes well above that of their college or university counterparts.
