Construction building trade professionals to showcase programs Nov. 16
Sheet Metal Workers Local No. 124, along with other state construction building trades in Oklahoma City, will host an open house from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 16 aimed to educate students, counselors, city and state inspectors, workforce boards, local instructors and superintendents and vocational school instructors about another form of higher education, apprenticeship. The event will take place at the Sheet Metal Workers training center of Western Oklahoma, 3090 Willow Springs Ave., in Oklahoma City.
National Apprenticeship Week was created in 2015 to tell the story of apprenticeships and invite business and industry, education, career seekers, community-based organizations, students and workers to learn about the real world advantages of this form of higher education.
More than 14,000 sheet metal apprentices are registered at over 150 union sheet metal training facilities across the United State and Canada. Those who participate in sheet metal apprenticeships across the country often graduate debt-free with a career and living wage generally well above that of their college or university counterparts.
