SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS — To celebrate National Apprenticeship Week Nov. 14-18, Sheet Metal Workers Local No. 67 Area Joint Apprenticeship, along with ApprenticeshipUSA, will host an open house from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 17, featuring a facility tour and presentations and demonstrations from several apprenticeship training programs in the San Antonio area. The open house will take place at the Sheet Metal Workers Local No. 67 Training Facility, 3630 Belgium Lane.
Those interested in apprenticeship programs — either as a student or a trade interested in starting a registered apprenticeship — will learn about each trade and participate in active demonstrations. The event is open to the public and the business community.
From careers in health care, energy and IT to manufacturing, transportation and the building trades, registered apprenticeship programs can diversify a workforce, improve productivity and profitability, standardize training, reduce turnover, earn tax credits and more. For apprentices, the average starting wage is more than $50,000 in annual salary.
